More winners, free stuff & InMotion Hosting

When you bought a ticket you were put into a drawing. When you showed up, you were given a ticket for a change to win free hosting with InMotion Hosting.

So We’ve finally pulled a name and are ready to announce the winner for a FREE year of VPS hosting: Cesar Gonzalez. Congratulations!

Also, when we were drawing tickets many of you had left the hall. So we still have two FREE shared hosting coupons to give away. So we drew names: David Lopez and Bruce Becker won!

As far as I’m aware Los Angeles’ first WordCamp was a hit! So I thought i would take the time to continue to follow up after the event. If you saw me running around you may have noticed my Cannon camera I was carrying around. Anyway I posted all the photo’s I took up on flickr, and set up a WordCampLA group for you to join and add to if you’ve got some great shots!

WordCamp development day a go in LA!

I know I’ve made some previous announcement about a possible dev day. Well after your votes, over 100 people said they were interested.

So today we locked down a small room at the Custom Hotel. The room has a max capacity of 75, so this event will be only for the die hard coders and developers who want to dive deeper into WordPress.

Will have a sign up list located somewhere near the registration area.

Where: Custom Hotel – “Prairie” meeting room 2nd floor

When: WordCampLA Development Day
Sunday September 13th, 2009
10am – 4pm

This will be a BarCamp style event, with no planned speakers or schedule. Just bring your computer and you questions, thoughts and ideas.

Well, it has come really fast and tomorrow is LA’s first WordCamp event. I would like to take the time to mention a few things in regards to tomorrow.

First

There has been a change to the speaker line up and schedule. Eyal Gura will no longer be speaking. In his place we’ve got Gary Nicholson talking about “Useful WordPress plugins for CMS and Blogs”:

Second

We’ve been asked this question by a few of you, “Where do we go”. So, first check the about the venue page, then check out this detailed map we’ve got of the LMU campus (Which clearly shows in color, where you can park, where track 1 will be (Also check in) and where track 2 will be) and just in case your unsure of the schedule, you may want to check out the page for that.

Third

Everyone who purchased tickets online in advance will have a name badge (which we are printing right now).

You can pick up your name tag at Track 1 (Seaver Science hall) where check in will be held. There will be plenty of signs and WordPress balloons to direct you.

Fourth

I know tickets sales online closed, but you can show up and get tickets at the door for $30.

Event badges with Gravatars

If any of you want to the recent WordCamp in San Francisco, you know about your name tags having your Gravatar on them. Well we’re going to be doing the same thing here in LA! So if you’ve bought your ticket already be sure that the email you used is registered with Gravatar.com.

Wow, we’re real close. Only 8 days till LA’s first WordCamp! If you haven’t noticed, the speakers schedule is up now.
